Russell Hume Meat Recall Widens l Risk Solutions for the Manufacturing Sector

20 Feb

You might have read in the news recently that more big firms have been caught up in the problems of meat supplier Russell Hume, amidst an investigation by the Food Standards Agency (FSA).

Manufacturing can involve complex processes that require specialist insurance cover and this case is a prime example of the importance of having a product recall insurance policy in place.

The FSA put a stop to any meat leaving Russell Hume company sites and unused meat had to be withdrawn from customers. This caused a large-scale interruption to business activity for everyone involved and reputational damage for Russel Hume.

Jamie’s Italian removed meat from the supplier, as did 18 Marston’s pubs. Wetherspoons pubs also had to remove steak from the menu on their weekly ‘steak night’.
