Seeing your company engulfed in smoke following a factory fire would feel like the end for most businesses. But Abergavenny Fine Foods turned an unfortunate accident into a proactive regeneration project – with a little added help from Thomas Carroll, Lorega and the right insurance cover.

Business Interruption Insurance Saved Abergavenny Fine Foods

On Sunday 5th July 2015, the unthinkable happened. Abergavenny Fine Foods manufacturing site at Blaenavon caught fire. By 6:30am the next day the extent of the damage was evident. Their team along with our insurance account executive, Claire Humphries and Thomas Carroll’s claims department joined forces and acted quickly.

Within two days, Abergavenny Fine Foods found out that all their losses and interruption were covered. 12 months after the fire, the new factory opened with a visit from HRH The Prince of Wales, Prince Charles.

Why was the claim successful?

Almost a year before the fire, Mel Bowman and her senior management team had taken the time to review all their business insurance. The team reviewed their business interruption cover and extended it to 24 months.

In our case study, Mel takes us through the process, her experience and the re-build.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Melanie for sharing her story with us.
